yellow onion, diced60 g
garlic, minced5 g
bell pepper (any color), diced60 g
canned crushed tomatoes200 g
low-sodium beef broth150 ml
canned black beans, rinsed and drained100 g
chili powder6 g
cumin4 g
smoked paprika2 g
dried oregano1 g
unsweetened cocoa powder (optional, for depth)2 g
salt1.5 g
black pepper0.5 g

Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add diced onion, garlic, and bell pepper to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes until softened.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, beef broth, and black beans.

Add chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, cocoa powder (if using), salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low, cover, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and flavors have melded.
