Pan-Seared Steak with Garlic-Rosemary Roasted Green Beans and Rice

Ingredients (Serves 2)

sirloin steak (raw)630 g
dry rice90 g
green beans300 g
olive oil10 ml
garlic (cloves)4 pcs
fresh rosemary5 g
fresh thyme5 g
salt3 g
black pepper2 g

Instructions

If using dry rice, cook 90g dry rice according to package directions (this will yield approximately 270g cooked rice).

Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).

Trim the green beans and toss them in a bowl with 5 ml of olive oil, minced garlic, chopped fresh rosemary, chopped fresh thyme, salt, and black pepper.

Spread the seasoned green beans on a baking sheet in a single layer.

Roast for 15-20 minutes, or until tender-crisp and slightly browned.

While the beans are roasting, pat the sirloin steaks dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and black pepper.

Heat a heavy skillet (like cast iron) over medium-high heat until very hot.

Add 5 ml of olive oil to the skillet. Carefully add the steaks.

Sear for 3-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust time for desired doneness. Use a meat thermometer to check internal temperature (e.g., 55-60°C for medium-rare).

Remove steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
