Hearty Slovenian-Inspired Turkey and Sauerkraut Skillet

Ground Turkey270 g
Sauerkraut250 g
Potato250 g
Onion60 g
Garlic5 g
Olive Oil5 g
Tomato Paste20 g
Caraway Seed2 g
Water100 ml
Salt1 pinch
Black Pepper1 pinch
Paprika2 g

Instructions

Step 1: Peel potatoes and dice them into 1/2-inch cubes. Mince the onion and garlic. If sauerkraut is very salty, rinse it briefly and drain well.

Step 2: Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat. Add ground turkey and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

Step 3: Add minced onion to the skillet and cook until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in minced garlic, paprika, and caraway seeds, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.

Step 4: Add diced potatoes, sauerkraut, tomato paste, and water to the skillet. Stir everything together. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until potatoes are tender.
