Savory Steak and Rice Porridge

Ingredients (Serves 1)

raw steak150 g
cooked rice100 g
onion, chopped50 g
garlic, minced5 g
ginger, minced3 g
soy sauce15 ml
olive oil5 ml
water300 ml
salt1 g
black pepper0.5 g

Instructions

Thinly slice the raw steak against the grain.

Heat olive oil in a pot or saucepan over medium-high heat.

Add sliced steak and sear quickly on all sides until browned but not fully cooked, about 1-2 minutes. Remove steak and set aside.

Add chopped onion to the pot and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Stir in minced garlic and ginger and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Add cooked rice and water to the pot. Bring to a simmer, stirring to break up any clumps of rice.

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the porridge thickens to your desired consistency.

Stir in soy sauce, salt, and black pepper.

Return the seared steak slices to the pot and cook for another 1-2 minutes until heated through and fully cooked.

Serve hot, optionally garnished with fresh herbs or a drizzle of sesame oil if desired.
